Lost + Found is a collection of limited edition hand knitted necklaces made using sustainably-sourced yarns (you can click on the images to be taken to that product in the store).
As well as being an avid maker and lover of fashion and design, I have also worked in sustainability education for about six years (and studied it for three more). The more that I learn about our consumption habits and the effects they have on our natural world (and us), the more selective I am about the products I buy and make. It has also brought me to ask myself - are we throwing away too much? What is worth keeping and what isn’t?
In this collection I have explored the use of a truly sustainably-sourced material – waste. I have taken discarded, unwanted yarn that was still in perfect condition but was unsuitable for it’s original purpose for some reason – too small a quantity, a slightly ‘wrong’ colour, or another similar reason – and turned them into something new and beautiful.
I created all of these pieces using hand dyed, industry remnant yarn that I have collected over the past few years. There are five editions in this collection of Knitted Knotted Necklaces, and each edition is limited to the quantity of yarn that I have on hand.
All of these editions are now available in the Lost + Found store (until sold out).
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna! Ive had so much fun making them.
DeleteIt looks like you've been so busy.
ReplyDeleteI just have to tell you how much I love your story about the trampoline. It's been making me giggle! Jumping whenever you like is such a great reward for the effort of dragging it home. Isn't it amazing what people put out? Nothing last long in my area, you can't think twice or it's gone : )
Kim - I have been busy (knitting and collecting from the nature strip). It's the same here - if you don't get in quick it will be gone. I've discover the most fantastic treasures on nature strips.
Deleteso beautiful - the colors are really unexpected + perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks Natasha! :)
Deletebeautiful! I've been reading a book about simple living, The Simplicity Circle, it's really opened my eyes to so much waste and over consuming. I bet choosing the colours combos was the best bit! x
